Furman University announces scholars

Sydney Kornegay, a Columbia Star cub reporter, has been named a Furman Scholar.
Furman Scholars from Columbia have been announced. The students, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and shown interest in attending a liberal arts college, were nominated by their high school counselors. All the scholars have a 3.75 grade point average, rank in the top five percent of their classes, and have strong test scores. The scholars who are accepted to the university are guaranteed a tuition of $3,500. Furman University is listed among the nation's top 50 liberal arts colleges in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings.
