The spring meeting of the Governor Joseph West Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists, was held at the New Orleans restaurant with both members and guests in attendance. The National Conference held in Washington, D.C., was discussed by members who had attended. The new South Carolina State Regent of this Society, Ms. Mary Armstrong, is a member of this chapter. The highlight of the meeting was the installation of new officers for the next two years by Honorary State Regent Mrs. Polly Jernigan. The new officers are regent, Mrs. Millie Blanchard; vice-regent, Mrs. Robin Calderon; recording secretary, Mrs. Frankie Abbott; treasurer, Ms. Mary Armstrong; chaplain, Mrs. Nancy Hughes; registrar, Mrs. Phyllis Gale; historian, Mrs. Ann Swanson; and outgoing regent, Mrs. Sarah Perkins. This group will reconvene in the fall.
