Samuel Derrick Porter was born April 22, 2006, in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital at 11:41 pm. He weighed six pounds and seven ounces and was 19 inches long. He is the son of Susan O. and Stephen Derrick Porter. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Kirby of Debordieu Beach, South Carolina, and the late Dr. Phillip Olmert Jr.. His paternal grandparents are Betsy Stuckey Porter of Columbia, South Carolina, and Virgil Porter of Winnsboro, South Carolina. Samuel was named for his paternal grandmother's uncle, Dr. Samuel M. Derrick.
