The classic fairy tale, Puss in Boots , has been adapted by Columbia Children's Theatre artistic director, Jerry Stevenson. It takes place in a southern setting of plantation homes and old oak trees.

The cast of nearly 20 professional actors includes some CCT favorites: Jessica Bright (Rapunzel), Erika Wood (The Witch), Lee O. Smith (Frosty), Scott Vaughn (Blue Dog), and Gray Robbins (Yellow Dog).

The tale begins when Old Master Honeycutt dies and leaves nothing to his youngest son, Tom, but a mangy old pole cat named Puss. Tom and Puss embark on a magical adventure taking them to the red velvet parlor of Miss Sassafras, the mansion of the Honorable Governor Grover Grovener, swimmin' holes, cotton fields, and finally to that big plantation on the hill, the mysterious home of "He who can't be talked about!"

"Resetting Perrault's classic fairy tale in the Old South and supporting the story with a group of solid comic actors make Puss in Boots a hilarious way to end CCT's opening season" says Carol Baker, CCT Board Member.

Puss in Boots runs May 12-20 at the Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center, 2611 Grant St. Show times are Friday, May 12 at 7 pm; Saturday, May 13 at 10:30 am and 2 pm; Sunday, May 14 at 3 pm; Friday, May 19 at 7 pm; and Saturday, May 20 at 10:30 am and 2 pm.
