St. Joseph's students receive honors from regional fair
Six students from St. Joseph Catholic School won awards at the USC's Central South Carolina 50th Annual Region II Science & Engineering Fair. The group of fifth and sixth grade students competed against students from nine counties in central SC.
The following St. Joseph students were named winners at the award ceremony held April 4, at USC's Koger Center for the Arts:
Carrie McIntosh
Honorable Mention in Physics; Honorable Mention Region II Grand Awards Junior Division; Discovery Young Science Challenge National Nominee 2006; Central South Carolina Outstanding Achievement Award Best 15 of all sixth grade projects for "Spinning in Circles-The Physics of Motion as and ice Skater Spins."
Jackie McSorley
Central South Carolina Outstanding Achievement Award Best 15 of all sixth grade projects for "Brush and Chew - They're Both Good For You."
Kate Tringali
Third Place in Chemistry USC Sumter Outstanding Achievement in Earth and Physical Science; Central South Carolina Outstanding Achievement Award Best 15 of all sixth-grade projects for "How Strong is Your Hair: Does Dyeing your Hair Make It Weaker?"
Haley Claffy
Honorable Mention in General Science; Discovery Young Science Challenge National Nominee 2006; Central South Carolina Outstanding Achievement Award Best 15 of all fifth- grade projects for "Fun With The Sun."
Kelsey Leonard
Central South Carolina Outstanding Achievement Award Best 15 of all fifth grade projects for "The Salty Conclusion."
