Mark E. Fryer Mark E. Fryer, President and Chief Financial Officer, Davis-Garvin Agency, Inc., graduated cum laude from the Moore School in 1989 with a BS degree in accounting. He also earned a Master of Accountancy degree in 1990.

Ilian Ljubomirov Mihov, Associate Professor of Economics, INSEAD, France and Singapore, graduated summa cum laude in 1992 with a BS degree and a concentration in economics. At Princeton University he earned an MA (1994) and a PhD (1996) in economics.

The award for distinguished service was presented to Gayle O. Averyt, Chairman Emeritus, Colonial Supplemental Insurance.He graduated from Davidson College in 1955 and earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1958.

That year, he went to work at Columbia's Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company. From 1970 until 1993, he was the company's chairman of the board.

In 1993, Colonial merged with UNUM Corporation of Portland, Maine, and Averyt served on UNUM's board of directors from 1993 until 1999.

In 2004, he was honored as the "Humanitarian of the Year for 2003" by the United Way of the Midlands.
