Frank Brunson, mayor of Forest AcresFrank Brunson, mayor of Forest Acres

Frank Brunson is a Forest Acres boy who grew up and returned to give back to the community that gave him so much. He first moved to Forest Acres in 1956 when he was six years old. He attended Crayton Junior High and graduated from AC Flora High School in 1968 before going to Wofford College to earn a BS in biology. He attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina where he received a degree in Pharmacy. He so loved and cherished his experiences growing up in Forest Acres that he moved back to the neighborhood to raise his two daughters Retta and Kenzie, now in their 20s.

Brunson says he enjoys the "big city amenities" and "small town feel" of Forest Acres. He has served on Forest Acres City Council for eight years and has been mayor for just over two years. For Brunson, being on city council and serving as mayor are more than just politics. He considers it heartfelt community service. He says, "We all need to give back to our schools, churches, and communities."

Although, he feels that Forest Acres is already a great place to live, work and play, his vision for the city includes upgraded parks and streetscaping to enhance the beauty and suburban feel of the town. When Brunson is not busy working for the city, he enjoys golfing, hunting, and sport fishing.
