Beth Akers and her advanced art students worked persistently to complete a gigantic canvas to be used as a backdrop at the Diocesan Youth Conference March 10 through 12 of 2006. Students Shealy Broome, Maria Culbertson, Leigh Eleazer, Kate Frier, Anne Holbrook, Mary Learner, Casey Morris, Becky Wych, Emma Owens, and Jae Won worked for over a month to produce a 12'x13' replica of a 9 and 1/2"x13" painting by Salvador Dali called The Persistence of Memory . Akers and the students agree that their biggest challenges when producing this project were time and space.
