SC Church and

Synagogue Library Association

SC Church and Synagogue Librarians have established a state chapter affiliated with the Church and Synagogue Library Association, a national association with its home office in Portland, Oregon. Dani Erway, East Cooper Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, was chosen to serve as the newly-formed organization's first president.

Other elected officers include Sarah Brown, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Columbia, first vice president/president-elect; Pat Shufeldt, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Green-ville, secretary; and Patsy McIntosh, Shandon United Methodist Church, Columbia, treasurer.

The last chapter meeting was February 25 at the First Baptist Church Media Center in Greenville. This gathering was hosted by the national organization's immediate past president, Rod McClendon.

Interested librarians, whether staff or volunteers, may obtain information about the organization by calling Sarah Brown, Eastminster Presbyterian, at 256-1654. Membership in the national association includes individuals from most states and a dozen other countries. Catholics, Jews, and more than 30 Protestant denominations are represented. The annual national conference is scheduled for July 30 - August 1, 2006 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
