Cub reporter performs for benefit concert

Amy Zhang Amy Zhang, a student at Dreher High School and a cub reporter for The Columbia Star, will perform a piano concert to benefit the Dreher Foundation March 23, 7 pm in the Dreher High School Auditorium. Contributed by The Dreher Foundation

Amy Zhang, a senior at Dreher High School, represents her school well. She is vice president of the Student Council, president of the National Honor Society, Debate Team president, editor of the Literary Magazine , co-host of the nationally syndicated Teen Forum Radio Talk Show, staff writer for the Blue Print, a member of The Asian Awareness Club, and a swim team member.

As a pianist, she has sponsored benefit concerts for Orangeburg Fine Arts Center, Dreher Foundation, and the Carolina Children's Home. She is the youngest student performer admitted to the New Orleans Piano Institute, a two time performer for the Junior Philharmonic Society of New Orleans, a two-time performer with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and an outstanding Musician Title for four out of five years. She received a superior rating in the Solo Category in the National Federation Music Club Festival for eight years. She holds the title of first place winner for performance in Louisiana, 1999-2002. She is a state level winner, regional alternate (LA and SC). She is winner of the Louisiana Music Teacher Axssociation District Piano Rally, a winner of the Young Artist Competition, and she won first place im the Stillman-Kelly National Tape Recording Competition.
