A sky high proposal
Lee Hunnicutt proposes to Susan West 14,000 feet above South Carolina.
During the summer of 2005, Lee Hunnicutt proposed to Susan West high above SC. It was Susan's first jump, and she planned to surprise her experienced skydiver boyfriend. However, her instructor told Lee and he set his own secret plan into action.
It was a busy weekend at Skydive Carolina. At the end of a 200-jump day, it was Susan's turn to go up. Everyone in the drop zone knew the big secret except her. Lee slipped into the back of the plane with a banner stuffed into the leg of his jumpsuit.
Susan jumped from the plane strapped to her instructor. Lee followed. When her chute opened, Lee pulled up beside her. At 14,000 feet in a brilliant SC sunset, he held up his banner, "Will You Marry Me?"
Shocked and overwhelmed, she screamed, "Yes, I will!"
