Project Pet presents AnEvening with Philip T. Myers

Project Pet's Board of Directors and volunteers presentedAn Evening with Philip T. Myers Saturday night, February 25, 2006, at the Newberry Opera House. The event was hosted by Deloris Mungo and Beth DeRidder. Myers, a professional singer and pianist, returned for the sixth year to perform for Project Pet's fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds goes directly to saving animals at the shelters which would have otherwise been destined for euthanasia.

The philosophy of Project Pet is compassion, respect, and responsibility for all of God's creatures. The vision is to some day have a community in which euthanasia is no longer used as a means of controlling the dog and cat population. More than 23,000 homeless and abandoned dogs and cats end up at Lexington and Richland County shelters each year, and over 19,000 of those dogs and cats are euthanized. These are pets that started out in life as someone's family member and ended up discarded with no one to care for them.

Project Pet has worked with animal organizations across the country and in the local community. The organization's volunteers realize the ultimate answer to the problem is spaying and neutering.

Project Pet is a 501 c3 community-based, people pet project founded to humanely reduce pet overpopulation in the Midlands through innovative and pro-active programs. For more information about how you can help, call Project Pet, 803-407-0991.
