In November, the Mimosa Garden Club held its annual auction which provides funds to conduct its service and community projects. The event, held at the Garden Club Council Building, was very successful and proceeds were at all time high. The club thanks those members who provided a wide variety of auction items and those who bid and bought them. The 2006 organizations that will be the beneficiaries are Epworth Children’s Home, The Women’s Shelter, and Meals on Wheels stationary site at Pacific Park.

In December, the club participated in the Holiday Symbols and Flower Show sponsored by the Garden Club Council. The Mimosa Club members garnered 11 first place awards, seven second place awards, and one third place award. Mrs. Paul DeBorde received honorable mention in the holiday wreath competition. Mrs. Richard Ryan received the award of merit in the herb category for curly parsley which she grew in her garden.

The Mimosa Club held its January meeting at the home of Mrs. Paul DeBorde. An excellent program, “Going to the Birds, a Touch of the Exotic,” was presented by Lisa Galloway, a bird handler at Riverbanks Zoo. Club hostesses provided lovely refreshments enjoyed by all.
