The Palmetto Cat Club will hold its 47th Annual Mardi Gras purebred CFA Cat Show Saturday February 25 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Jamil Temple, 206 Jamil Road (frontage road off I-26 at St. Andrews Road).

Judging for the Household Pet Contest begins at 1:30 pm with registration by 1 pm required. The $15 registration fee per cat for the Household Pet Contest also admits up to two people to the show. Judging for the show cats (purebreds) begins at 9 am. Those entering purebreds must have registered in advance of the show. WLTX’S Jim Gandy will be the celebrity judge for the Household Pet Contest.

Carolina Cats and The Sunset Felines, both groups specializing in cat rescue, will be at the show with lots of adoptable cats and kittens, some of them needing extra special adopters.

Carolina Cats will also be holding a photo contest for stay–at–home cats whose owners think they are winners anyway. Participants may enter as many pictures as they would like, $2 per picture. Best Looking, Most Unusual, and Most Amewsing (funniest) kitties will win gift certificates to a local pet store and other amewsing prizes.

Photos may be brought to the show or mailed to P.O. Box 210705, Columbia, SC 29221. They must be received by Friday, February 24, 2006. All proceeds go to cat rescue.

There will also be prize drawings at the show, and, of course, vendors with wild and wonderful cat trees, fancy kitty beds, and all the best toys.

In addition to its many adoptable cats, Carolina Cats cares for more than 100 cats which are elderly, feral or semi–feral, or have health or behavioral problems.
