Mrs. Lyon’s classes at Killian Elementary School are involved in this unique service learning project and invite the community to help. Army personnel in Afghanistan visit over 1,000 orphan children each month within the Kabul Region. The children get boxes every day with clothes, toys, and blankets.

But, they also need to feel joy and love. This why Lyon’s students want to send bubbles! Blowing bubbles is universal. Language will no longer be an issue for interaction, and the smiles will come naturally as they “play” with the soldiers.

A Bubble Donation Box is in the reception area of Killian Elementary School, 2621 Clemson Road.

Bubbles with wands cost no more than $2 and can be found at Wal–Mart, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Big Lots, and Cromers.

The Bubble Drive will continue thru February. Killian students invite all of the Midlands to send Love and a Smile to Afghanistan orphans and our Army personnel.
