The Governor Joseph West Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists held its winter business meeting at New Orleans Restaurant on January 24, 2006. This was the annual business meeting so reports from all committees and officers were submitted. The program of the day was a slide show of the History of Shoes called A Step in Time, a short history of the evolution of shoes through 1850, made from textiles mostly. Mary Armstrong presented this program, which was a delightful look backward.

The election of new officers was held with Mrs. Millie Blanchard as the new president; Mrs. Robbin Calderon, vice president; Mrs. Frankie Abbott, recording secretary; Mary Armstrong, treasurer; Mrs. Nancy Hughes, chaplain; Mrs. Phyllis Gale, registrar; Mrs. Sarah Perkins, historian; and Mrs. Ann Swanson, librarian.

The State Assembly for this group will be held on February 24, 2006, at the Ramada Inn on Two Notch Road in Columbia. All members are urged to attend.
