The Animal Mission, the non–profit support group for The Columbia Animal Shelter, will hold its seventh annual Party Animals concert and silent auction on Friday, March 3 at 6:30pm.

The event, sponsored by SC Bank and Trust, will be held at the Clarion Town House Hotel on Gervais Street in Columbia. Music will be provided by: Hootie & the Blowfish, Patrick Davis, and Celebration Gospel Ensemble.

A silent auction will begin at 6:30 pm and will feature animal–related and eclectic items such as a weekend in Las Vegas at the Silverton Casino, an autographed Michael Waltrip race car fender, Hootie & the Blowfish concert tickets, framed posters from Oscar–winning movies autographed by the stars, handmade dog houses, a five–day trip to Hootie’s drummer’s North Carolina mountain home and much more!

The concert, which begins at 8 pm, will feature Nashville recording artist and Camden native Patrick Davis, an a cappella performance by Camden’s Celebration Gospel Ensemble, and a set by Hootie & the Blowfish. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill.

“Because of the support The Animal Mission has been given over the years through this event, we have been able to launch some innovative programs such as free spay/neuter vouchers as well as maintain quality programs and services throughout the year,” commented Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, president of The Animal Mission.

Using money raised from Party Animals 2006, The Animal Mission plans to launch a new pet census program, which will assist in safeguarding animals during times of disaster. Other plans include extending the free spay/neuter voucher program. Party–goers will be invited to purchase memorial bricks for The Animal Mission’s Paw Path, which will be installed in Rosewood’s network of parks.

Tickets for Party Animals are $75 per person and can be purchased at any SC Bank & Trust branch in Columbia or Orangeburg, the Clarion Town House Hotel at 1615 Gervais Street, or directly from the City of Columbia Animal Shelter off Shop Road at 127 Humane Lane. For directions, call 803-776-PETS.
