The Columbia Star is proud to present Eboni Davis as the SC Army National Guard player of the month for January 2006.

Davis is a senior at Lower Richland High School with a 4.455 gpa. She is on the A Honor Roll and ranks in the top 5% of her class. Davis is a member of the National Honor Society and the 4.0 Letterman Club, which requires student athletes to maintain a 4.0 gpa three semesters per academic year.

Athletically, this five–year letterman and three–year team captain has been honored as a Wendy’s Heisman nominee and was named MVP of the 2004–05 Allen University Golden Corral Capital City Basketball Classic. She has also been named to the all–tournament teams in the Hilton Head Classic and the Chester Basketball Classic.

This talented scholar athlete is also a three–year letterman with the Lower Richland marching band and was named 2005–06 Miss Homecoming.

Off the court and outside the classroom, Davis volunteers with the Community Parks Service, her church, and a local hospital. She is also a graduate of the Benjamin E. Mays Leadership Academy.

Coach Deborah Stroman says, “Eboni is very deserving of this honor. She is a team leader with great skills. Not only does she excel in school, but also attends church and Sunday school regularly and has a part–time job. Eboni was injured last season with an ACL tear and has recovered. She is putting forth all kinds of effort to help her team achieve its goals. Eboni is well respected on campus and I have enjoyed coaching her since the seventh grade. I look forward to seeing her play further... there is no other like her.”

Davis received a commemorative plaque and National Guard basketball as part of this honor.
