The AC Flora varsity girls had home court advantage on Friday night, January 13, as they faced off against Eau Claire High. The court was packed with Flora fans, and the stands shook with cheering and stomping. The Falcons managed to pull out a one point win against the Shamrocks.

AC Flora started off the game with a strong first half. Point guard Tiara Knotts dominated the first two quarters, calling plays and setting the tempo of the game. The Flora freshman scored five of the team’s 24 points in the first half, and the Falcons led at the beginning of the third quarter.

The third and fourth quarters brought plenty of shots for the Falcons, but they were unable to stop Eau Claire’s Britani Martin who ended up with a total of 15 points for the game. As the game came to a close, the Falcons scrambled to keep their lead. The girls managed to pull out a 35–34 win in the fourth period.

Flora forward Mary Baker says the team just did what they needed to do to stay ahead.

“We had a slow third quarter,” the senior, who scored three points in the game, acknowledged. “But everyone worked together, and we pulled it out at the end.”
