Saving Sandy Island , a documentary about the trials and tribulations of development on the Grand Strand island, will premiere February 2 at 9 pm on ETV as a part of the new Carolina Stories series.

The only way to visit Sandy Island is via boat, but plans have been presented to build a bridge that would connect it with the mainland. Taken from the perspectives of all those involved from life–long residents to developers and even Governor Mark Sanford, Saving Sandy Island , attempts to explain the complex problem. An encore presentation will be aired Thursday, February 23 at 9 pm. Saving Sandy Island is the second of six movies produced by ETV production teams on topics related to the diverse cultural and historical legacy in South Carolina.
