Some Enchanted Evening brings money to symphony

Photos courtesy of Suzi and Sandy Fields Some Enchanted Evening, The Big Band Dance hosted recently by the Columbia Symphony League at Wildewood Country Club, was more than a chance to escape winter doldrums. It was also a dressy rehearsal.
Dancing the night away to Don Boyd and Friends’ band limbered up league members and guests for this week’s Mozart Festival Ball at Forest Lake Country Club. A premier event in the statewide celebration, the black–tie ball features another favorite musical group, Dick Goodwin and Friends.
Although the music was a high note of Some Enchanted Evening, the menu was also a star. Dinner of beef tenderloin along with shrimp and grits, and bananas foster for dessert, sustained dancers burning off calories on the dance floor.
Sponsors were Susan and Bruce Benesh, Carolyn and Merrill Donahoo, Suzi and Sandy Fields, Shirley and Bob Henderson, Shelley and Don Nelson, Avis and Tim O’Leary, Sherry and Earl Whatley, Jane and Richard Whiteside, and Sally and Bert Wood.

A crowd of about 100 made the fundraiser a success. Revenues from parties hosted by the Columbia Symphony League help support the symphony’s operations.
