Larry Dibiase is the new head coach of Cardinal Newman’s varsity girls’ basketball team. The team is new and has never played on the varsity level before. The team is made up of three freshmen: Tori August, Joanna Watson, and Beth Eckstein; six sophomores: Jamie Shaw, Kallie Kucharski, Lauren McCarter, Ashley Price, Samantha August, Erin Lynch, Kelly Zander, and Meredith Sexton; and two seniors: Laura Regan and Ally Sheehan. “We’re young and inexperienced,” said Coach Dibiase. “but our strengths are our shooting and our enthusiasm for the game.”

The stars of the team are expected to be Jamie Shaw (5’10”), Kallie Kucharski (5’7”), and Laura Regan (5’3”), all guards.

The greatest competition for Cardinal Newman will be Heathwood, Augusta Christian, and Hammond. “I am cautiously optimistic that we will do well this season,” said Coach Dibiase.
