Coach Hugh “Hogeye” Jones of Hopkins was recently honored by the Lower Richland High School athletic department for his 42 years of service as captain of the football chain crew and for volunteering as assistant coach for both junior and senior football teams.

At a football banquet, director of athletics Ronald Sims presented coach Jones with a plaque honoring him for his dedication of 42 years chain crew service and 54 years of never missing a home game at Lower Richland High School.

He told the audience that his pep talks and guidance to the football teams always was “You have not failed until you stop trying.”
