SC District Judge receives honorary CMU degree

Matthew J. Perry Jr, a senior United States District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, since 1979, received an honorary doctor of law degree from Central Michigan University President Michael Rao on December 17. Judge Perry was a commencement speaker at CMU’s 9:30 am ceremonies.

A recipient of many awards and honorary degrees, in 1986 Judge Perry received The Order of the Palmetto, SC’s highest award. In 1975, he was nominated by President Gerald Ford and confirmed to serve as a judge on the U.S. Court of Military Appeals in Washington, D.C.
