Mrs. Banks Harrison Fair
Mrs. Banks Harrison Fair Anita Margery "Mardi" Smith and Banks Harrison Fair of Wagener, South Carolina, were married December 17, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Duff James and the Reverend “Red” Williams, grandfather of the bridegroom, performed the noon ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith III and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gardiner Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Stanley Smith Jr. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College and the University of South Carolina School of Law.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal gown in diamond white paloma satin. The strapless gown designed with a fitted drop waistline fell into an A–line skirt. Covered buttons and the semi–cathedral train accented the back of the gown. The bride carried a French spiral bouquet with exposed stems of white roses. Her bouquet was elegantly designed with touches of rosemary and Christmas greens. The stems were partially closed off with white satin and a touch of sheer ribbon accented the bouquet.

The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Julian Harrison Fair III of Wagener and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence "Red" Daniel Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Julian Harrison Fair Jr. of St. Matthews, South Carolina. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. The bridegroom’s boutonniere was a white rose with a touch of rosemary.

Constance Esther Smith and Graham Elisabeth Smith, sisters of the bride, were maids of honor. Attendants were Mrs. Jenny Moore Brown, Ellen Caroline Christ, Mrs. Morgan Ransford Evans, Rainey Lynn Fair, Katherine Simmons Haltiwanger, and Janna Corinne Smith. The bridesmaids wore a formal dress in red matte satin. The sleeveless dress designed with a “V” neckline fell into an A–line skirt. A sweep train accented with a knot embellished the back of the gown.

The bridesmaids carried European exposed stems of white roses and fresh Christmas foliages. These bouquets were complimented with sheer white streamers.

Dr. Julian Harrison Fair III, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Brantley Dantzler Busbee, James Donald Cathy, William Joseph Felder, Joseph Daniel Gilliland, Benjamin Wesley Hipp, Paul Anthony Saik, Orville Stanley Smith IV, and Samuel Scott Truitt. Each groomsman wore a grey morning coat with a grey vest and an ascot. The groomsmen wore a white rose with Christmas greens.

Both mothers and all the grandmothers wore white rose corsages with whisper–soft foliages.

Ushers were Roy Grant Smith Jr. and Martin Lane Stewart Jr. Greeters were Jessica Ann Stokes and Jennifer Inman Allen.

The reception ar-rangement consisted of mixed flowers that included red and white snapdragons, larkspur, gladioli, white lilies, red gerbera, red roses, dianthus, and genestra. Fresh assorted Christmas foliages were flowing from the tall silver compote.

A reception followed at the Palmetto Club.

After a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple will reside on Lake Murray.
