The Captain John Chappell Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII CenturyThe Captain John Chappell Chapter, Colonial Dames XVII Century, held its fall meeting October 29, 2005, at Still Hopes Episcopal Home in West Columbia, SC. One of its members had reached an auspicious age and her birthday was celebrated by having the meeting where she lives.
The speaker of the day, Mrs. Thomas A. Stallworth, is a member of the Captain John Chappell Chapter and is also the state president of this organization. Mrs. Stallworth spoke of the goals she has set for herself during her administration which include increasing the organizations’s membership, creating an Ancestor Descendant File which will be available to all chapters, increasing support of the organization’s state and national scholarships, and the continued support of the Camden Archives Library where the Colonial Dames Collection is housed.
Two new chapters were charted this spring and two new chapters are being organized in the Spartanburg area which is encouraging for the growth of this organization
