“Bizarre Bazaar” 5K Race and Youth Run at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church
Proud parents stand on the sidelines as the youth run begins.
Runners and walkers were energized by autumn’s frosty air as they lined up at the starting line of the Bizarre Bazaar 5K Road Race early Saturday morning.
The road race is part of the annual Bizarre Bazaar fundraiser for Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, and benefits local non-profit organizations such as Easter Seals, God’s Storehouse, and WMHK Christian radio station.
Immediately following the 5K, young boys and girls pinned on their race numbers to take part in the youth run, held in memory of Scott “Bird” Nyland.
Camera flashes lit up the race course as proud parents cheered on their children. Each of the young race participants received a medal at the closing ceremonies.
The 5K road race overall male winner was Scott Hoffman with a time of 17:39, and the female overall winner was Rachel Pemberton with a time of 22:51.
Entrants competing in the Bizarre Bazaar Road Race, Seven Oaks Festival of Races, and the Shandon Turkey Trot will receive a special participation award.

Following the morning race, families enjoyed games and crafts at the Spring Valley Presbyterian Church bazaar.
