Killian Elementary School’s faculty, staff, friends and family pulled together to form the Killian Falcons “Walk for Life” Team: Steps against Breast Cancer. They participated in the First Ladies’ walk in Finlay Park. The team totaled 42 members and raised $840 for the Palmetto Health Foundation’s goal of “Early Detection Saves Lives!”
In addition to the walk, Killian Elementary School’s students held a Hat Day on Friday, September 24. All students who wanted to wear a hat contributed a $1 towards the Killian Falcons “Walk for Life” Team. An additional $450 was added to the Killian Falcon’s Team.
A huge “pink ribbon” with all the team members’ names was created and hung in the school. The students who wore hats filled out pink hearts with their names and placed them around the pink ribbon. The “pink” wall has become an inspiration to everyone within the Killian family. It is a visual reminder of how a whole school can work together to raise over $1200 towards a worthy community cause like breast cancer research.
