(L–r) Mimosa club members Mrs. Ben Stands, Mrs. Dennis Cohen, Mrs. Ronald Childs, Mrs. Joe Hick, and Mrs. Harold Tillman
Members of the Mimosa Garden Club held their 67th organizational meeting September 27, 2005, to plan for the 2005–2006 year. The meeting was held at the lovely home of artist Mrs. Henry Kerff. The club’s active roster is now 30, a full membership.
Officers for the current year are Mrs. Richard Ryan, president; Mrs. Philip Lee, first vice president; Mrs. Ronald Childs, second vice president; Mrs. Frank Forsthoefel, recording secretary; Mrs. Harold Tillman, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Jack Valpey, treasurer.
The president read an essay describing the behavior of migrating geese and suggested that lessons learned from their behavior could serve as examples for members to be supportive of one another during the coming year. New projects were presented for a full calendar of activities, and each member’s participation was encouraged and expected. All were reminded of the approaching club auction November 15, 2005, which is the major fundraiser to fund the club’s activities.
Recognition was given to members who had received awards from the Garden Club Council of Greater Columbia. Awards earned were for council member attendance, Junior Garden Club, and second place for the club yearbook.
