Dreher celebrates Homecoming with victory

Friday, October 14, Dreher High School held its 57th Homecoming celebration. Tammy Brown was crowned the 2005 Homecoming Queen. Louise Bailey was first runner–up, and Eliza Murphy second runner–up.
Bunny Butler was the first homecoming queen (1948). The first cheerleaders were Jane Howard, Ann Butler, Joe Miller, Bunny Butler, and Betsy Howard. Later queens included Mary Ruff (1954), Mary Lou Strasser (1956), Sally Blackmon (1957), Patricia McLaurin (1959), Mimi Montgomery (1961), Susan Milliken (1967), Carolyn Bartlett (1978), Patience Lee (1985), LaTonya Moore (1991), and Sara Hadwin (1996).
David McClain plays the trombone in the Dreher band.
The football team defeated Midland Valley 42–34. Nick Bethea scored five TDs, including an 81–yard kickoff return. He rushed for 236 yards on 13 carries.
