Carolina Children’s Home will hold its official grand opening for the Walker Enrichment Center October 26, 2005, at 3:30 pm. Jamie and Jenny Walker were the catalysts to make this a reality through their generous donation to the home.
The Walker Enrichment Center is the latest building in CCH’s Rebuilding Campaign and marks the beginning of the second phase which is part of a long term plan for the campus. The Walker Enrichment Center will nourish both the minds and bodies of the Home’s children for years to come.
The building houses eight classrooms, two learning labs, office space, and the main dining hall on campus. The learning lab serves as a media center with books and computers for residents to use when doing their schoolwork. The dining hall is used by all on campus and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The children with the most severe problems due to abusive pasts, in addition to those in a temporary crisis care program, are educated on campus in this new facility.
One of the largest and most comprehensive group homes in the state, Carolina Children’s Home serves children and adolescents who have been the tragic victims of severe abuse, neglect and/or abandonment. Helping children from throughout SC, the staff at CCH hopes to help kids learn to live normal, promising lives in the future.
