The excitement was as thick as smoke Friday night at the annual Bacon Bowl. Students painted in school colors formed tunnels for Dreher and AC Flora and cheered their teams on as the teams stormed through the banners.

The rivalry between the two schools is intense. The teams are coached by brothers Robin (AC Flora) and Bill Bacon (Dreher). The game was preceded by a week of competitive pep rallies and fundraising, in which each school attempted to raise the most money for Katrina victims.

Bethea made a 66–yard touchdown run on the Blue Devil’s next possession. Then, in the last minute of the half, the Blue Devils blocked a Falcon punt and ran for another score. The Blue Devils were up 21–6 at the end of the first half.
