Mayor proclaims Constitution Day

2005-09-23 / Society

Thirty–nine of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787. Each year the Daughters of the American Revolution hold programs the week of September 17 to educate the public about the constitution. In Columbia, the DAR always request that September 17 be proclaimed Constitution Day by the mayor and the city council. Pictured with Mayor Coble from left to right (first row) are Daughters of the American Revolution members Jack Hubbs and Jason Hubbs of the Col. Thomas Taylor Society C.A.R.; Tyler Cox and Callie Cox of the Jonathan Adams Society C.A.R.; (second row) Beverly DiThomas of the Granby Chapter; Leslie Wrenn of the Ann Pamela Cunningham Chapter; Ellen Westfall of the W.M. Capers Chapter; Angela Cox of the Columbia Chapter; and Louise Brooks of the E.L. Pinckney Chapter. Mary Cruce of the USC Chapter is not pictured.
