Universities seek recruits
On the anniversary of 9/11, college recruiters from four universities came to SC looking for some fresh recruits. The universities included Harvard, The University of Pennsylvania, Duke, and Georgetown. This event took place in the Marriot’s Capital Ballroom 2. Following the presentations from each school was a question and answer session.
Each of the recruiters said they looked at academic excellence, scores on the SAT and ACT, recommendations, what the student does in his free time, and most importantly an essay written by the student about himself. They said the essay helps show the person’s personality and writing skills.
Harvard, founded in 1636, has over 3,000 courses. They have no themed living arrangements and 10 houses. These houses have a variety of facilities including weight rooms and tennis courts. Harvard has the largest university library in the world.

Georgetown was founded in 1789 and became the first Catholic/-Jesuit college. Their staff includes the former president of Spain and a former CIA director.
Duke was founded in 1924 and is the youngest Ivy League University. The campus is completely hotwired allowing students to access the web on any part of the campus. The students have ongoing projects like The Smart House, a house designed by students on campus to be technologically advanced.
