Columbia TD Club begins new year August 23
USC Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier will be the main speaker when the Columbia Touchdown Club begins another series of meetings Tuesday, August 23. His introduction to the audience at the Members Only luncheon will be by Eric Hyman, the school’s new athletics director.
Opening day is one of two events restricted to those holding Columbia TD Club season memberships. Another is October 7 when Clemson Coach Tommy Bowden will speak. All other meetings are open to the general public with tickets available at the door.
Individual season individual memberships are $125, Bronze for three members at $360, Silver Memberships consisting of five members are $575, and the seven members Gold is $770. The deadline for ordering memberships is Aug. 19. For more information phone (803) 254-9564.
There are six meetings scheduled this year. The second will be Friday, September 16 and will feature comic impressionist Scott Moore, who is noted for his interpretations of major college coaches. Other gatherings will spotlight former Carolina Panther All–Pro Wesley Walls, Furman University Head Coach Bobby Lamb, former Clemson and NFL standout Levon Kirkland, and former USC defensive star Corey Miller.
Other TD Club meeting activities include scouting reports of USC opponents, honoring high school players, the Pick ‘Em contest, and the awarding of door prizes.
