Miss Frye and Mr. Chastain wed in France on June 10

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cooper Chastain Karen Michele Frye and Walter Cooper Chastain were married Friday, June 10 in the garden of Chateau d’Esclimont in Saint Symphorien–le–Chateau, France.

A champagne reception was held on the grounds immediately after the 7:00 pm ceremony followed by dinner in the Chateau. A violinist played during the Church of Scotland service.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Robert Shelton Frye and the late Mr. Frye of Plano, Texas. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ralph Chastain Jr. of Columbia.

Mrs. Lance Brian Cathey of Glen Rose, Texas, was her sister’s matron of honour. The bridegroom’s father served his son as best man.

The bridegroom’s parents entertained the wedding party the day before with a private tour of the Chateau of Versailles followed by a dinner at Restaurant Cazaudehore in Sainte Germain–en–Laye, France. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dunn Sagrera of Columbia held a cocktail reception in the couple’s honour at the restaurant before dinner.

The newly married couple took a wedding trip to Greece visiting Rhodes and Santorini while the guests departed for various destinations in Europe.

For the wedding, the families and most of the guests stayed at the Chateau. The Chateau d’Esclimont was built in 1543 by Etienne de Poncher, Archbishop of Tours. Some of the subsequent owners were the Compte de Cheverny and the Duc de la Rochefoucauld. In 1981 it was sold and turned into a hotel.
