Lu Yang, a junior majoring in finance and international business at USC’s Moore School of Business, was named the recipient of the 2005 Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Yang received the Columbia Chapter’s local scholarship award of $500 and has been awarded the District Scholarship Award of $500 for a total of $1,000. Born in Shanghai, China, Yang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Shanghai dialect, and English. She plans to study in Japan for the upcoming fall semester and is working toward a minor in Japanese. Yang’s goal is to take advantage of a career that would allow her to combine her international experiences with her western education.

The Zonta Club of Columbia is a member of a worldwide service organization comprised of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. The Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships, established in 1997, is open to women pursuing an undergraduate degree in business leading to a business management career. The program is designed to encourage undergraduate women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business–related fields in their communities and throughout the world. The Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship looks to the women of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.
