Three Colonial Dames XVII Century Chapters meet together
On Thursday, 16 June 2005, 11:30 am, three Colonial Dames XVII Century Chapters met together at Musgrove Mill Revolutionary Battle Site outside of Clinton, SC. June Adair, past president of the Kenelm Winslow Chapter, dressed up in colonial style and told the story of Revolutionary War Heroine Mary Musgrove.
More Revolutionary War Battles were fought in SC than in any other colony. The State Park Service has joined with the National Park Service and the Palmetto Conservation Foundation to preserve our state’s history in a project called “The Cradle of Democracy.” The Musgrove Mill State Historic Site will become the orientation center for the entire project.
Attendees were treated to a box lunch on the porch of the recreated Musgrove Mill House overlooking the Enoree River and the battlefield. A group picture was made with the new state president, Mary Jane Stallworth. The chapters for this very special combined meeting were the Carolana, Kenelm Winslow, and the Captain John Chappell.
