When Kay Day visits Columbia on June 25, she’ll host an informational/forming session for the National League of American Pen Women, Inc (NLAPW).

Day, president of the Jacksonville, FL, branch of NLAPW, said her chapter’s members decided to make increasing the organization’s presence an outreach priority. They targeted several states, including SC, where there is currently only one branch in Greenville.

SC was once an active state for the organization. NLAPW hopes to re–establish a branch in Columbia. The session will be held at The Happy Bookseller, 4525 Forest Drive, from 1–1:30 pm.

NLAPW is the nation’s oldest organization for women who are professionals in the arts. Composers of music, visual artists, and writers comprise the membership base. NLAPW offers opportunities for networking, sharing information, and increasing exposure through relationships on local, state, and national levels. Women in the arts are invited to come learn about this organization that has been in American arts since 1897.

Day’s tour will include a number of American cities. Columbia will be her first stop. Day’s poetry collection released in 2004 was the only Florida poetry title nominated for an award by the Southeastern Booksellers Association. Her books are published by Ocean Publishing.
