Mrs. Ryan William Newton
Mrs. Ryan William Newton Camilla McKenzie Brunson and Ryan William Newton were married May 14, 2005, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. The Rev. Charles Meyer Davis Jr. performed the 6 pm ceremony. Music was provided by organist Jared C. Johnson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones Brunson. Her maternal grandparents are Ms. Doris Harmon Taylor of Columbia and Mr. and Mrs. Voight Howell Taylor of Concord, North Carolina. Her paternal grandparents are Dr. George Washington Brunson and the late Mrs. Frances Earle Jones Brunson. The bride earned a bachelor of arts degree in art history from Wofford College. She is employed by The National Bank of South Carolina.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Lynn Cureton of Easley, South Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Randall Morris Newton of Seneca, South Carolina. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Robinson Cureton of Central, South Carolina. His paternal grandparents are Mrs. Morris Alton Newton and the late Mr. Newton of Seneca. The bridegroom is a graduate of Wofford College with a bachelor of arts degree in English and Spanish. He is also a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is employed by Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A.

Margaret Burnet Brunson, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. The attendants were Jill Elizabeth Case; Keating Simons Coleman; Margaret Durham Medlin; Kimberly Suzanne Newton, sister of the bridegroom; Rhoda Jane Paschal; Elizabeth Boyd Stork; Julie Stanley Stowe; and Lindsey Alden Sweatman. The flower girls were Allison Elizabeth Arnold, Victoria Lynn Arnold, and Haylee Elizabeth Cureton, cousins of the bridegroom.

The bridegroom’s father served as best man. The groomsmen were Seth Patrick Ashburn; Thomas Casey Brittain Jr.; Joel Steve Hughes; Robert Benjamin Moody; Nicholas Cureton Newton, brother of the bridegroom; Corey Alexander Schlise; Nicholas Cedric Steinhaus; and Matthew Clay Warren. The acolytes were Delores Emma Cantey Brunson, cousin of the bride, and Brian Martin Williamson, cousin of the bridegroom.

A reception was held at the Lace House and Gardens on the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion Complex. After a honeymoon to St. John, United States Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Columbia.

honors William S. Smith

Daughters Diana Smith Highsmith of Baxley and Dorothy Smith Fidler of Columbia reminisce over the accomplishments of their father who died in 1968.
