Re-opening of Olympia Mills “great day for lintheads”
Larry Gates, Whaley Street Neighborhood Association president; Jim Jaco, We Are Olympia; and Bob Guild, Granby Hill Alliance Neighborhood Group, spoke at the re–opening of Olympia Mills as up–scale apartment residences.
Work is already underway on comparable renovations of Granby Mills, next door to Olympia Mills.
Other hosts for the re-opening ceremonies were the River Alliance along with Whaley Neighborhood Association, We Are Olympia, and The Granby Alliance. The Garvin Group, the project’s architectural firm, was recognized for its hands–on involvement, and county and city officials present were acknowledged.
From the podium Larry Gates, president of the Whaley Street Neighborhood Association, quipped: “If patience is a virtue, there have been a lot of virtuous people involved in this project along the way. But once Mr. Caplan got involved, things got moving. He told us he didn’t come here to talk about it, he came here to do it – and he has.”
Following the buffet lunch, dessert was served in the wide hallway leading to the model 2,400 square foot apartment. Guests were shown through the up-scale residence by leasing agents.
