  • Sunday’s wine tasting and auction on the top floor of Main Street’s Meridian Building was an unqualified success. It was put together by the Central Carolina Community Foundation as part of their wine and food festival the next night at the Marriott. Sold out well in advance at $100 per seat, the Nelson Mullins space was ideally suited for such an occasion. The wine teacher was John Laird of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines. The wine auctioneer was Bob Sabatini of Ben Arnold Beverage Company.
  • The first item on the agenda was a tasting of the five first growths of Bordeaux. Napoleon III declared the best of Bordeaux wines in 1855 for his upcoming Paris world’s fair.
