In Our Schools , airing Sunday, April 17 at 6 pm, will feature the five candidates for 2005–06 SC Teacher of the Year. Included in the show are in–depth interviews about teaching styles, changes, and challenges in education, and what has made each a successful educator, along with footage in their classrooms, providing insight into why teaching is the chosen career for these outstanding educators.

The five finalists are: Kimberly Rene Taylor, a third grade teacher at Lake Murray Elementary in Lexington–Richland Five; Cliff Barrineau, a math teacher at Dreher High in Richland District One; Katherine O’Quinn, a music teacher at Round Top Elementary in Richland District Two; Stephanie Seay, a kindergarten teacher at Wellford Elementary in Spartanburg District Five; and, Donna Barrick, a music teacher at Houston Elementary in Spartanburg District Seven.

The S.C. Teacher of the Year for 2005–06 will be named during the first week in May.

A quote from the In Our Schools S. C. Teacher of the Year Special:

“Being a life–long resident of SC, the reward is in giving back to my community, my district and my school…giving back what I have been given. Teaching is a gift. The rewards are immeasurable.”
