Midland’s Coin Club Semi-Annual Coin, Currency, & Collectibles Show & Sale will have over 2 dozen dealer tables for buying and selling coins, tokens, medals, paper money and other collectibles. Art

The Columbia Museum of Art will unveil 20 murals designed by Richland and Lexington County students Tuesday, April 19, at 4 pm at the corner of Gervais and Main Streets. The murals will line the fences that surround Main Street renovation sites.

Auditions

USC Theatre will hold auditions for the fall line up of plays on Saturday, April 23, 1–5 pm, at Booker T. Washington rehearsal studios. Audition times are reserved in advance at the department of theatre and dance office in Longstreet Theatre. The fall plays are The View from the Bridge and The Cherry Orchard. Call 777-9353.

Church/Charity

Bethlehem Lutheran Church will hold their annual blood drive on Sunday, April 24 from noon–4 pm. Call 781-3900 to schedule an appointment time or simply drop by.

Adam’s Northeast AME Church will celebrate its 1st Annual Women’s Day Celebration on April 17, from 10 am–3 pm.

Wesley United Methodist Church will hold an annual yard and bake sale April 16 from 8 am–2 pm. Treasures galore and plenty of homemade breads, cakes, and goodies.

BMW’s Ninth Annual Ultimate Drive Program for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is scheduled to drive through Columbia May 4. The Ultimate Drive Program will deliver as it travels cross–country, bringing with it a commitment to raise money for breast cancer research. And, for the first time, the Ultimate Drive is expanding the route and will include events in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The event will travel to the BMW Center at 5819 Two Notch Road, 10 am–6 pm, May 4.

The Heart & Sole Five Mile Run/Walk will be May 14. The event starts and ends in Finlay Park. WIS News 10 will be there. There will be the five–mile run, five–mile walk, or the 3–mile walk. Save your gently used sneakers because they will be collecting them at packet pick–up on race day to give to needy people. Donations of women’s, men’s and children’s sneakers will be given to the Cooperative Ministry.

The American Diabetes Association will host one of the area’s largest motorcycle rides April 23 to raise money and awareness for one of SC’s most devesting diseases. Bikers Against Diabetes will begin at Jillian’s in the Vista, 800 Gervais Street. Registration opens at 9 am and the ride begins at 10:30 am. On April 22, the American Diabetes Association will also host a Biker Party at Jillian’s, 6:30 pm–8 pm. Call early to register. 799-4246

Entertainment

Downtown Magnolia Market will be held April 16, 10 am–2 pm at the corner of Main and Hampton Streets. Open–air vendor market featuring fresh produce, flowers, specialty, art, handmade crafts, prepared food vendors, and much more. This Saturday’s entertainment lineup includes a variety of performances and activities. Columbia Carriage Works will be providing horse-drawn carriage tours from 11 am–1 pm. 779-4005

The Columbia Chapter of Business and Professional Women will hold an Equal Pay Day Happy Hour April 19 from 5:30–7:30 pm at the Meritage in the Vista. A donation of $6.90 for women and $10 for men is required.

The Lower Richland Community will celebrate Diamond Day Saturday, April 16, 2005, 10 am–5 pm, at Lower Richland High School. Call 695-3000. Booths are available for rent.

The SC Historical Society will hold the Spring Home Tour on Sunday May 1, 2005 .in Winnsboro. The tour includes homes and historical sites. Homes will be open for a self–guided tour 11 am–4 pm. Tickets are $30 and may be purchased in advance through the SC Historical Society in Charleston, 843-723-3225, ext. 11 or on the day of the tour at the Promenade behind the Town Clock on Congress Street from 10:30 am–1 pm.

Palmetto Healthy Start will sponsor a Family Health Festival Saturday, May 14, 11 am–3 pm, at Elmwood–Roy Lynch Park. The free event will feature games, prizes, music, a cake walk, and a cookout. Health screenings for blood pressure, sickle cell anemia, and HIV/AIDS will also be provided. Call 296-3780.

Alumni and friends of the Moore School of Business at USC are invited to attend the 20th annual Business Leadership Dinner on April 29 at The Zone in USC’s William–Brice Stadium. Cocktails begin at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7:30 pm. The event which is themed Honoring Our Own, awards will be presented to five alumni and friends.
