Flora extends winning streak

To begin this week A.C. Flora High School’s fifth ranked boys’ soccer team edged Cardinal Newman 1–0 by converting five penalty kicks to CN’s four. That permitted the Falcons to boost their record to 6–0 in the Monday night clash on the Cardinals’ home turf.

Cardinal Newman, according to the SC High School Soccer Coaches Assoc. (SCHSSCA) poll, was top ranked among SCISA’s boys’ teams. Their overall record is now 1–2–1 including preseason play.

ACF goalkeeper Clark McCarthy logged seven saves while the Cardinals’ blocked six. This weekend’s games for the two schools will be the Falcons’ home battle against the visiting Byrnes Rebels Friday, Cardinal Newman will take on visiting Hilton Head Christian in a doubleheader. The Lady Cardinals begin the action.
