In a ceremony held February 19, in conjunction with the American Association of School Administrators’ 137th annual conference, Richland School District 2 Superintendent Stephen Hefner was honored as a winner of the 2005 eSchool News Tech–Savvy Superintendent Award. Sponsored by Software Technology Inc. (STI) and Microsoft Corp., the awards were given to ten of the nation’s top K–12 executives in recognition of their outstanding leadership and vision in educational technology.

Superintendents were nominated by members of their staff or community, and the final recipients were chosen by the editors of eSchool News in conjunction with their colleagues—last year’s award winners.
