Rotary and Red Cross celebrate
I Give Regularly

This past Wednesday, February 22, the Columbia Rotary Club and the American Red Cross celebrated the “I Give Regularly” campaign. The campaign was started six months ago by the Columbia Rotary Club to address the blood shortage in the Midlands. Part of the celebration was to officially turn the program over to the American Red Cross, but the majority of the celebration was to thank donors and recognize the successes of the campaign.

Lanier Jones, president of The AD Company and chairman of the Columbia Rotary campaign, said the campaign was successful in three important areas. First was the embracing of the campaign by local media. The second was the trend towards closing the shortfall gap, which was evident by the 1000 unit increase since the campaign began. Third was the emphasis on community involvement and pointing at the need for the community to give everyday, not just when a crisis arises.
