Miss Taylor told us when you are writing you have to get the main ideas. You also have to give the truth to your readers. Some people asked Miss Taylor if it was fun to write and she said it was! She also said that if people do not like to write they might not like this career. Some kids asked her if she had a lot of friends at work and she said yes. I learned a lot about her job. It sounds like a lot of fun. I might be a writer like her some day.

When Miss Taylor came to talk about journalism Rice Creek’s third grade was amazed. Miss Taylor told us almost everything about her job. She told us about her articles like when she watched a knee surgery. Now we know what to expect when we read an article. I hope we hear more articles from Miss Taylor.

Amanda Taylor, a Columbia Star reporter volunteered to come to Rice Creek Elementary to tell the third graders about her job. Ms. Taylor told an interesting story about a man who had knee surgery. Ms. Taylor had to go with him to take notes and pictures for the story. She also told third graders about a story she did on a woman that saved a dog’s life. The dog was lost in the road, and the woman tried to look for the dog’s owner. The lady who found the dog was able to find a girl to adopt the dog. Amanda Taylor is a great journalist who shares her interesting stories with people.

Amanda Taylor is a journalist for the Columbia Star newspaper. She came to our third grade class and taught us about what she does. She talked about the equipment she used. She used a digital camera and a notepad. On her note pad she just takes notes about the thing that she is writing about. Her digital camera, she takes pictures with of what she is interviewing e-mail them to her boss. She said that when she e-mails her writing to her boss, after they get their e-mail, they see if it’s good enough and they will put it in the paper along with the pictures. People asked questions and she answered all of them. Amanda is a great person.

Amanda Taylor is a journalist who works at The Columbia Star . She came to Rice Creek Elementary school to talk to third graders about her job. I was in one of those classes. Amanda talked about what equipment she used like a camera and a note pad. She told us about what she would put in the newspaper and she said, “When you can’t think of anything you just write things down. It does not matter if it makes sense.” And she did a couple more things and some of the students asked her questions and some of the teachers did as well. Amanda was a great teacher.
