Dreher, Flora, and Cardinal Newman rank high in soccer
This past week the SC High School Soccer Coaches Association held its ninth annual clinic in northeast Columbia. As part of its proceedings, the SCHSSCA issued its pre– season outlook for the sport.
The Dreher boys and girls were given top 10 rankings at numbers seven and nine respectively. The A.C. Flora boys were pegged 13th while the girls were ranked at number eight.
Among the SC Independent Schools Association teams (SCISA), all four Columbia area schools were listed among the best eight in the state. For the boys, Ben Lippen and Cardinal Newman are in at number two and number three in that order. In seventh is Heathwood Hall and Hammond landed at number eight.
The number one SCISA boy’s team is Summerville’s Pinewood Prep.
Cardinal Newman’s girls are second behind Hilton Head Christian.
Irmo is ranked at the top of the AAAA boys’ standings while the top AAAA girl’s team is West Ashley (Charleston).
Topping the AAA boys is Eastside (Taylors) with Riverside (Green-ville) tops among the girls in that classification. Notably, Brookland–Cayce is placed at number six, and Chapin shows up in seventh place.
Bishop England leads the AA boys’ list while the Lady Bishops top the AA/A girls.
Christ Church (Greenville) is shown as the top Class A boys’ team.
