  • Members of the Zonta Club of Columbia recently met with children and leaders of LEER at their annual holiday party. LEER, which means “to read” in Spanish, is a non–profit program dedicated to educating Hispanic children and their families who speak English as a second language.
  • Mari Hernandez– Tuten, LEER founder and director, was presented with a check for $220 from the Zonta Club of Columbia for the purchase of tape recorders, headphones, CD players, batteries, CD audio books, and books on tape. This donation was made possible by money raised during the 3rd Annual Bowling for Zonta on October 23, 2004 at Columbia Lanes.

The Zonta Club of Columbia is a member of a world–wide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to improve the status of women.
